Guiding and Counciling, Assessment

This class was interesting , and exciting for the new information such as the role of the tutor atyand trainee. There are three main styles for guiding such as catalytic and conforntential. This has helped me understand more clearly the vital role of the tutor for guiding and counciling as a part of his training responsibility. There is a lot to say but surely lots of information has been conceptualized.

Assessemnt class was interesting and for me was like good refreshment of my assessment literature but in this class it was well orgaized and presented thought seemingly more pratical excercises could have been more useful for instance making assessment trials and being exposed to common mistakes in assessment and how to overcome them.

  1. I see my role in this tvtc program mainly as that of a guidance counselor, not so much as that of a teacher. Could you point out some occasions where I have used

    a) Approving counseling

    b) Catalytic Counseling

    c) Confronting Counseling

Are there moments when another style might have yielded better results?
(It will be interesting to see, if my metacognition is in line with how you perceive my actions!)

A more practical approach to assessment will take place tomorrow, when you'll start drafting your plan for teaching practice, as this plan also includes assessment.

Do I interpret it right that while some of the first sessions e.g. on learning theories had very little to offer to you (with your solid pedagogical background), the past couple of days have been more useful? I hope that really is the case!
